My beard...
Tonight is night one of David's new job. He will be working Monday-Friday 5am-2pm. That means he is going to bed around 7, which is before Micah's bedtime. Micah keeps wanting to knock on the bedroom door and he keeps looking to the hallway and asking about Daddy. So tonight for our bedtime story we read some poems from Where The Sidewalk Ends, which is one of my favorite books from my childhood. We dedicated this poem to Daddy tonight....
My Beard
My beard grows to my toes,
I never wears no clothes,
I wraps my hair
Around my bare,
And down the road I goes...
And down the road I goes...

10 favorite things...
1. This card.
2. She & Him. At first I didn't think I would like them but after hearing them a million times on Pandora I started to really love them.
3. The ending of Shawshank Redemption. For 3 days in a row David and I kept catching the last 15 minutes of Shawshank. I love the whole movie though.
4.Rally's fries. Everytime we have to take Micah to the Children's Hospital in Little Rock we always stop in Conway to get some Rally's. They have the most amazing fries ever.

10 things...
Normally I would be making a post about 10 things I love, but since I am not feeling so well I thought I would do a much quicker 10 list...
10 Things I HATE
1. Bad drivers-that one needs to explanation.
2. Kesha-or Ke$ha...whatever it is I still hate her. Why would anyone want to pretend to be a drugged up slut?
3. The smell of sunscreen-I can't stand it and it's really hard to find unscented sunscreen.
4. Stuff that comes from an aerosol can-I can't see shaving cream, foam, whipped cream, silly string, or Cheez-whiz without gagging. I have always been like this and now Micah is too. And I HATE how many stores have the foam soap in their bathrooms!!!
5. Legos-Have you ever stepped on a lego? If you have, you should understand why I hate them so much.
6. Jersey Shore-WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY would you ever act like that in public? Do they not think about the fact that their parents will see all the shit they do on TV? But, they have no shame, so whatever.
7. When someone runs the fork along their teeth when eating-it makes my skin crawl!
8. Underwear that rolls down when you walk-okay...I know I'm not the only person who has had this happen!
9. Taxidermy-NOTHING is scarier to me than when I walk into a room and there are dead animals everywhere. I once had an anxiety attack in the middle of a flea market because I almost ran into a stuffed deer!
10. Celiac's disease-YOU'VE MADE OUR LIFE SO DIFFICULT!!!!

Such a quiet morning!
It's almost too quiet around here!
Last night we had a birthday dinner for my brother at Olive Garden (yum!) and my dad and stepmom asked if we would be okay if kids spend the night. So last night David and I were able to snuggle on the couch and watch Date Night with no interruptions. I am not used to watching a movie without having to pause it several times to do something for someone else. I was able to sit in one spot for the whole movie and I felt kind of weird about it!
But this morning I called my dad to see how the kids are doing and as soon as the phone picked up I heard Micah's voice yelling "HEEEEEEELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOO" kind of like Mrs. Doubtfire. Dad said Micah was being really good and bragged about how good Micah is at sharing (I must pat myself on the back for that one!) and he asked me if I knew that Micah can recognize the whole alphabet (which I did know...but I can't take all the credit for that one....pat Elmo on the back for that one!) Then he told me really good news...Micah actually sat down and ate breakfast! He ate 2 (YES 2!!!!) whole pieces of bacon and a piece of gluten-free toast with Nutella on it. Even thought we've been gluten-free for over a month we have still had a lot of trouble getting Micah to eat. He will eat little bits here and there but if he eats too much in one sitting he will gag and sometimes throw it back up. His stomach is still so damaged from the celiac's it's been a really slow healing process. But my dad said that Micah just sat down at the mini-table with John Andrew (my little brother) and ate everything on his plate and never gagged once. I don't know if he is just in an amazing mood or if seeing John Andrew eat so much made Micah realize that it's okay to eat...but whatever it is I hope he keeps it up!
We are about to leave to go to my sis-in-law's house for lunch and I feel really weird about the kids not going with us! April has 3 sons (her youngest is only 2 months younger than Micah) and Micah LOVES going there and jumping on the trampoline or play-wrestling with the boys. So going without him kind of makes me feel like he's missing out on the fun! But I have to remember that Micah is having alot of fun at my dad's house playing with John Andrew and the dog and Harper is probably having a whole lot of fun being carried around everywhere by my stepmom Kim...who I know probably hasn't put Harper down at all!
Everytime I talk about the kids David has been giving me a countdown..."we're going to dinner at your dad's house at 5 o'clock..." Only 7 hours to go. :)

10 Favorite Things...
1. The Nook Color.
Books...Pandora...and I can check my twitter and facebook. I love it.
3. Seu Jorge
6. My husband's side of our bedroom
8. Gnocchi
10. Brittany from Glee

2. Realizing just how much our kids are like us.
When David was younger he couldn't sleep without his blankie. His mom said when he was a baby he would hold the blankie next to his face while he drank his bottle. Even now as an adult David sleeps with a pillow or blanket tucked right up against his face. What I love about that, is Harper does it too. She always rubs her "wubbys" against her face and smells them and smiles. It's just so weird to me how they are so similar.

3. Seu Jorge
Portuguese covers of David Bowie songs make me very, very, very happy.
4. Mean Girls
I think no matter how old I get, this will always be one of my favorite movies. How can you not love a movie by Tina Fey?
5. Rubbermaid Reveal mop
I know it's probably pretty pathetic that I love a mop so much, but I really do love it. Micah also loves it and always tries to help me mop the kitchen.
6. My husband's side of our bedroom
David lets me decorate the entire house however I want and I let him do this to his side of the bedroom. I actually love it. I love how happy it makes him too. Oh, and I really love how much Micah loves to just sit on our bed and stare at the toys, but he won't touch them because he knows they are daddy's.
7. My new Corningware
I got it at a thrift store for $2 and just a couple days later say it at a flea market for $40.
8. Gnocchi
If you've never had gnocchi, just trust me and try it.
9. My vintage hankie collection
I have always love looking through vintage hankies at flea markets but never bought them because I didn't know what to do with them. But now I set up a display for them in my bedroom (on MY side...haha) and have started collection them.
10. Brittany from Glee
She seriously has the best lines in the whole show.

Friday, I'm in love...
So since we've been snowed in I finally got around to doing something with my vintage hankie collection. Say hello to my new "reading nook" in our bedroom. I moved our dresser into the closet so it really opened up a lot of space.
Another great thing about cold weather...it makes my kiddos super snuggly. Every morning we've been spending the first hour or two of the day just playing in bed. Micah and Harper have been playing together so well. Micah brings her toys and makes goofy faces to make her laugh. It's so sweet. Harper just needs to learn to stop pulling hair! But maybe she's just jealous because all her hair fell out. :)

Dear Mr. Sun...please melt this ice!
I'm so ready to get out of the house. I have a serious case of cabin fever. We have organized the kids room, bathroom and closet, then we organized our room and closet. I am really hoping that tomorrow we can go do something.
But in the meantime, I will post fun snow pictures!
Harper making a snow angel.
My happy chubby abominable snow baby.

Micah loved playing in the snow. As soon as we got to the bottom of the stairs he pointed down and asked for a "Snowbaaaalllls?"

10 things I love
1. Quilts
There is nothing like a heavy old quilt to make me feel all nice and toasty. I really need to learn to quilt.
8. Cat Stevens
There is nothing like a heavy old quilt to make me feel all nice and toasty. I really need to learn to quilt.
2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bugles
I have only ever seen these at gas stations but they are amazing!
3. Acorns
Actually, I love anything autumn-ish. But I bought this canister a few weeks back and love it!
4. Savers
There aren't any savers around here but there is on in Fort Smith so everytime we go visit my in-laws I have to run in and buy some stuff. I have bought vintage plates, clothes for the kids, an old (really old) Sesame Street sheet set including the pillow cases, a Lambchop pillow case, and tons of other crap I don't really need (well, the kids do need their clothes).
5. Being snowed in
I love being home with David and the kids all day....AS LONG AS OUR POWER STAYS ON!!!
6. Felt Foods
I made Harper some felt foods for Christmas but she kept chewing them and getting little fuzzies in her mouth so we ended up buying her a plastic food set, but I still love the felt foods and can't wait until she's older and realizes that not everything has to go in your mouth!
7. Harold and Maude
One of my favorite movies ever. I still cry everytime I watch it. I love a nice love story.
8. Cat Stevens
Because I put Harold and Maude on the list I knew I had to add the soundtrack to my list too! The song If You Want To Sing Out is one of Micah's favorite songs to dance to and it always makes me smile!
9. My Husband
I am so lucky to have met David. We lived our whole lives so close but didn't meet until we were in our 20s. David grew up in the trailer park just a few houses down from my Grandma's house where I also spent most of my time. His best friend's mom (who is practically his mom too) was my mom's boss. When I was in high school he lived right around the corner from me (he was already graduated from a different school) and my bus stop was right in front of his house. He even worked with some of my old high school friends. But somehow we never met until he was 25 and I was 21. We started dating right away, fell in love really fast, got married, and had another baby.
David is an amazing man. Micah is not his son, Micah was actually several months old when David and I started dating, but he has always loved Micah as if he was his own. Then in October of 2010 David signed the papers and adopted Micah. Micah is now a Kelso just like the rest of us. I really couldn't ask for anyone better. He is funny, hardworking, and tries his hardest to understand me. I have been through a lot in past relationships and still have a lot of insecurities when it comes to trusting people, but David has always been patient and loves me no matter what. And I love him no matter what...even though he fills have our bedroom with his toy collection. :)
10. Ricky Gervais cameo on The Office
Did anyone else see last week's episode of The Office? AMAZING!!
